Sherwood High School
Tigard High School
“It has to rank among one of the top high school baseball games of all time,” said Tom Campbell, head coach of the Tigard Tigers Baseball Club, who has been involved in more than enough games to know.
The Tigers had to take two games out of three against the Sherwood Bowmen to wrap up second place alone in the Three Rivers league and that is exactly what they did defeating Sherwood by a final score of 6-5 in eleven innings on Tigard’s home turf.
Tied after regulation the two teams battled through the next three innings where the score remained deadlocked at the end of ten innings at four runs each. In the top of the eleventh Sherwood took the lead by one run setting the stage for the dramatic finish.
In the bottom of the eleventh Kameiah Korok began the rally with a double. Nick Heinke took the count to full before drawing a base on balls. With Korok and Heinke aboard Parker Kuntz, whose bat had been sizzling, flied to right bringing up sophomore rookie C.J. Rivers who doubled in Korok to tie it and Heinke to win it.
Rivers got the win giving up only one hit in five innings.
