Dear Tigard Volleyball Families,
I hope that you and your family are staying safe, healthy, and sane during this time. I wanted to take a moment and put together some updates and provide some insight into our plan and schedule as it relates to volleyball.
Firstly, I would like to acknowledge that these are very strange times and since I could not have anticipated our current scenario, I cannot reliably predict the future and our schedule with certainty. I will, however, share what we know, what our plans are as well as our contingency plans. For those of you who missed out on a spring sport this year, I am so sorry for that loss. I remain optimistic that we will be able to compete in the fall.
At this time all spring activities are canceled including our 7th and 8th-grade clinic and our Sand Volleyball League. We are planning, optimistically, for our summer events to take place. This means that we will have open gyms and team camp at Hazelbrook Middle School in July and August. We have these dates currently on the calendar. We will update them as more information becomes available.
Team camp is scheduled and we are proceeding with registration at this time. Team camp is scheduled at Hazelbrook Middle School on July 20th through the 23rd.
Because the future is still so uncertain, I am going to ask that we postpone payment until June 20th or until we have official information confirming there will be no cancellations. Please register your athlete as soon as possible so that we can confirm the numbers and finalize the arrangements. The registration takes only a few minutes, does not include payment and can be found using this link. Team camp registration is only available for returning players at this time.
Also, we will continue to register for the fall season. The registration is through the www.RegisterMyAthlete.com site. This registration also does not require payment at this time. Since payment is not required until before our first game, I would urge you not to pay now to avoid the need for potential refunds if something were to happen.
In regards to the required sports physicals each year, the OSAA has announced that they are considering amending their rules. Although not official yet, they are considering extending the expiration date for current physicals. This means that Juniors would be able to participate with their physical form from their exam prior to their freshman year. Usually, the physical form expires after 2 years. However, students that haven’t had an exam before would still need to meet that requirement prior to participation. There should be more information coming and I will update you when I know more.
Thank you for completing the team camp registration as soon as possible.
Please let me know if you have any questions,
